This weekend attracted a lot of interested, so unfortunately we were unable to accommodate all those who expressed an interest. However, Slochd Mhor Lodge was able to take 10 adults and 13 children in to their comfortable accommodation. We were very fortunate with the weather and the snow. It was just above freezing and there were several inches of snow – it largely disappeared in the thaw that came on Monday. The kids had no sooner arrived on Friday evening than they were out playing in the snow and sledging just outside the lodge. The party naturally divided around the ages of the children. Those with toddlers co-ordinated with each other and the lodge’s only pulk proved very popular. Those with older children lead (followed) them and introduced them to pleasures of Nordic skiing. The easy terrain around the lodge was ideal for this. The circuits around the hill above the lodge are one of the best spots in Scotland for fast track work and the odd member was seen escaping their responsibilities to try it.
We all came together for the communal meal that was divided into 2 sittings. The children had theirs first, then the adults. This allowed the youngest children to be put to bed and gave the adults a chance to relax and enjoy their meal. It was a great occasion for adults and kids to enjoy the snow in a social way.
