The Edinburgh Ski Touring Club

Hiking

walkers climbing through forest

During the long light days of summer the Club organises walking and camping trips to the remoter areas of the Scottish mountains, both Knoydart and the Fisherfields have been explored recently. There are usually some members embarked on the Munro round and others interested in trekking further afield, although these are not official Club activities, the Club is a good place to find kindred spirits to share the pleasure of the mountains. As the days shorten into winter a number of day meets are arranged closer to home in the Ochils, Pentlands and other Border hills.

The picture shows Club members ascending to the ridge above the Glen Devon forest on a driech winter morning on a day trip in which the mists gradually parted, first giving glimpses of the sun mirrored in the Forth to the south and then splendid views over the hills to the Glen Devon reservoirs and beyond to the north.
